Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati is the ideal couple in this universe. In the month of Shravana, people show their devotion to Shiv Parivar to gain their blessings. There is a beautiful story which tells how Shiva granted the boon of desirous husband to Parvati and she chose Shiva.
After the death of Sati, Shiva completely immersed himself into yogic practices. Prajapati Daksha was killed by Shiva and the Gods feared huge destruction due to his anger. They wanted him to marry again and therefore, Shakti again took the birth as Parvati in the home of Himalayan King.
Kamdev was sent to arouse desire in Shiva’s heart for marriage but Shiva also killed him with a huge spark of light from his third eye. Parvati did tapasya for many years and observed austerities to please Shiva. The lord of universe seated on kailasha remained immersed in yogic practices and refused to hear her. She started doing tapasya on snow capped mountains and hot coal. Her devotion and determination shook Shiva. He asked her for a boon and Parvati wanted him as a husband. Shiva granted him the boon and realized that she is the Adi-shakti, the incarnation of Sati.
The marriage of Shiva to Parvati was like giving form to formless God. Shiva became Shankara through this cosmic union and this form of Shiva is prayed all around India. As Shiva has granted Parvati the boon of her desirous husband, he can grant our wishes in the same way. Goddess Parvati ensures smooth married life full of affection and care with no misfortunes. Thus, praying upon Lord Shiva-shakti in the month of Shravana will grant you the boon of successful married life and desirous husband.
